CSCMP San Francisco Roundatable invites you to participate in a collaborative lunch event with the Bio Supply Management Alliance (BSMA). Hear CSCMP's President and CEO, Rick Blasgen share insights about supply chain trends and lead an energetic panel discussion with biotech, high-tech, and supply chain leaders.

Mr. Blasgen will then moderate the panel, "Biotech Meets High Tech", featuring the heads of supply chain and procurement, technology, and manufacturing of Bio-Rad Laboratories, Sonic Manufacturing, Medivation, and Siemens Healthcare – to crystallize variations in supply chain best practices across the high-tech and bio-med sectors, and discuss areas of opportunity for 'leap-frog' improvements.

Rick D. Blasgen is the president and chief executive officer of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) in Lombard, Illinois, USA.

Blasgen began his career with Nabisco, working in a regional customer service center in Chicago, Illinois. While at Nabisco, he held various logistics positions of increasing responsibility in inventory management, order processing, and transportation and distribution center operations management. Blasgen became vice president, supply chain, at Nabisco in June 1998, then vice president supply chain for Kraft in June 2002. He joined ConAgra Foods in August 2003 as senior vice president integrated logistics. 

Blasgen has devoted much of his time to furthering a number of company’s supply chain management programs and initiatives. This experience has given him a solid foundation for his role at CSCMP where he has responsibility for the overall business operations and strategic plan of the organization.  His efforts support CSCMP’s mission of leading the supply chain management profession through the development and dissemination of supply chain education and research. 

Blasgen was recently designated by the US Department of Commerce to serve as the Chair of the Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness (ACSCC) providing the Administration advice and counsel on issues and concerns that affect the supply chain sector. He is a member of Northwestern University’s Transportation Center Business Advisory Committee and a past chair of the Grocery Manufacturers Association Logistics Committee. Blasgen is a graduate of Governors State University, earning his degree in business administration and majoring in finance.

Mark brings more than 20 years private and public sector experience in supply chain management & global sourcing, Lean manufacturing & operations planning, Six Sigma Quality process improvement, acquisition assimilation, organizational change management, complex outsourcing & global sourcing initiatives serving in roles of increased leadership responsibility with companies such as NCR, Solectron, Asyst Technologies, Apple Computer, & Celerity Group Inc. 

In his role as Global Supply Chain Procurement Director at Bio-Rad Inc. Mark is responsible for supply chain performance with direct responsibility for improvements in time to market & volume manufacturing initiatives, reduced commodity costs & inventory reductions, logistics tracking and trace of all physical goods movement, improved quality, reduced risk profiles and more rigorous regulatory compliance all while positioning their supply chain for the latest initiatives focused on environmental stewardship expected of World-Class Suppliers.

Prior to joining the private sector, Mark served in the United States Marines Corps, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and ultimately served through Captain while completing deployments in Kuwait (Operation Desert Storm) and Somalia (Operation Restore Hope).  

Mark received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois C-U, and an MBA from National University in La Jolla, California.

GinsbergDavid Ginsberg

David Ginsberg has over 25 years of experience in both the OEM and EMS industries. Prior to his return to Sonic in 2010, Mr. Ginsberg held supply chain roles at many Silicon Valley technology companies; including Net Optics, OpVista, Stratalight, Hammerhead, Alantec and Stanford Telecom. Professionally, he has served on the Inventory Management Committee of APICS National and as President of APICS Santa Clara Valley. He has published articles and been a speaker, advisor and consultant to industry and ecommerce firms. Mr. Ginsberg was instrumental at Sonic in establishing the rapid and self-correcting materials, data & supply chain processes that have supported the growth of the business and the high level of quick-turn service demanded by its customers. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.B.A.

Jim LatimerJim Latimer, C.P.M.

Jim Latimer is a 30 year biotech procurement veteran having served an impressive range of companies including Genentech, Amgen, Gilead Sciences, Elan Pharmaceuticals and Medivation. Jim has served on the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) Pharmaceutical Forum Board of Directors from 1998 through 2001, served as a member of VWR International’s Customer Advisory Board from 1996 through 2004, and served as a Director of the Institute for Supply Management – Silicon Valley (ISM-SV) from 2007 through 2009. Jim holds a Master of Science in Procurement and Contract Management from St. Mary's College of California with a B.S. in Biology from the University of South Carolina.

Tim has over 16 years of leadership experience with Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Management in large and small businesses. Tim has a Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, and is a Chartered Engineer with the UK-based IET.  Tim has worked in manufacturing and R&D leadership positions, as well as a Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain positions in large corporations and small businesses.
