Please join us as we kick off the CSCMP-SFRT 2010/2011 season with a very heady subject discussing critical decision making in the supply chain. 

Have you ever wondered how companies arrive at the supply chain models they have in place, and what leadership skills are needed to arrive at these decisions?  The answers may surprise you.  Our panel of supply chain executives will explain how they arrived at their innovative models and the critical decision points that shaped their supply chains into the world class models they are today.  As the leaders explain their process, and throughout interactive discussion, our moderator will identify styles that are in play, providing insight into current models in place and clarifying for participants the unseen infrastructure that brings to you everything from a bicycle to a hot cup of Joe.

Neil Rowe, Director of Plant Operations 
Peet's Coffee & Tea

Neil Rowe has over 19 years of logistics and supply chain experience in retail. He joined Peet's Coffee & Tea in 1999 as Director of Plant Operations to oversee the entire plant from roasting to production to supply chain logistics.  As the Director of Distribution Operations, his primary focus is to concentrate on supply chain logistics as it relates to company growth and changes in distribution network. 




Paul Goodman, Director of Global Logistics
Data Domain (EMC)

Paul Goodman’s career spans over 20 years in Product Development, Manufacturing, Operations and Service and 

Support Management. In his current role as Senior Director of Global Logistics for the Backup Recovery Systems division of EMC, Paul is responsible for the successful integration of worldwide logistics and Global Trade and Compliance processes for the division. Paul is also responsible for worldwide parts planning, purchasing, and repair activities for all warranty/service and support inventories for the division.  Prior to EMC (Data Domain), Paul held executive and director level operations positions at Azul Systems and Maxtor Corp.



Kim Peterson, Corporate Distribution Manger
Specialized Bicycle

Kim Peterson has 35 years of operations, sales and management experience in the Transportation and Distribution industry. He is currently the Corporate Distribution Manager, of Specialized Bicycle Components responsible for global inbound logistics and order fulfillment. Prior to Specialized he was the Director of Transportation and Logistics for Huntsman Packaging Corporation

Will Urban began his career with Expeditors 1994. As District Manager of Expeditors San Francisco. Will is responsible for all operations in Northern California / Western Nevada including San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno and surrounding markets with offices located in Brisbane, Roseville and Milpitas.

Dr. Steven Nahmias
Steve Nahmias,  Professor of OMIS and Director of Faculty Development and Research
Santa Clara University

Dr. Steven Nahmias is Professor in the Operations and MIS Department at Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business. He has been an active researcher in the areas of stochastic modeling and inventory management for almost 40 years, and has previously taught at University of Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, UC Berkeley and Stanford University. He is perhaps best known for his text Production and Operations Analysis currently in sixth edition. The book has been adopted at the best universities in the U.S. and around the world and has been translated into Hebrew, Spanish, and Chinese. Dr. Nahmias is also an active consultant in inventory management and statistical methods, having worked on many diverse projects for a variety of clients.
